The Cashibo-Cacataibo ethnic group is settled in voluntary isolation in this protected natural area of Peru.

The Cashibo-Cacataibo ethnic group is settled in voluntary isolation in this protected natural area of Peru.

The main purpose of the project is to protect the life of this indigenous population of the Cashibo-Cacataibo ethnic group that lives in the area of the Cordillera Azul National Park (PNCAZ) and its buffer zone, so that it has a territory of free transit for its traditional use; in addition to safeguarding their physical integrity against possible invaders of their territories and protecting the biodiversity that surrounds them.

To this end, the CIMA organization (in charge of the administration of the Park for 20 years), in collaboration with WATU, raises the need to improve the knowledge and management of the PNCAZ and its buffer zone in its eastern sector, through the participatory design of mechanisms and instruments for the protection of indigenous populations in isolation who live inside and in the vicinity of the protected natural area.
