This project aims to reduce the mortality of amphibians, reptiles and small vertebrates due to unnatural causes, and more specifically, to roadkills.

This project aims to reduce the mortality of amphibians, reptiles and small vertebrates due to unnatural causes, and more specifically, to roadkills.

More specifically, it seeks to:

  • To know the situation of certain points of the Spanish geography in relation to the collision of amphibians and small vertebrates.
  • To reduce and avoid mortality in amphibians and small vertebrates in geographical points already studied.
  • To disseminate the problem of collisions of small vertebrates in the environments of action and among the general public.

The activities to be carried out are:

1. Field study of the “black spots” to account for incidents.
2. Census of populations in the affected ecosystems.
3. Study of migrations of affected species (common toad, runner toad, salamander and badger.)
4. Amphibian rescues during the migration season.
5. Installation of barriers and signage.
6. Improvement of habitats, cleaning of ponds, lagoons, watering holes, fountains, etc.
7. Issuance of press releases on the activities carried out and edition of audiovisual material.
8. Assembly and transfer of the traveling exhibition.
