MITECO

This project aims to disseminate the environmental value of the protected natural areas of the municipality of Aznalcázar to promote the sustainable use of resources and quality tourism.

This project aims to disseminate the environmental value of the protected natural areas of the municipality of Aznalcázar to promote the sustainable use of resources and quality tourism.

This municipality is located in a privileged enclave, thanks to the ecological value of a large part of its territory. In addition to the Doñana National Park and the protected landscape of the Guadiamar Green Corridor, within the municipal limits there are other areas subject to special protection such as the Cornisa del Aljarafe and the Pinares de Aznalcázar, the most important forest mass in the province of Seville, in Andalusia.

For the City Council of Aznalcázar, the dissemination of the environmental value of these spaces is a priority, in order to promote a sustainable use of resources and quality tourism, compatible with the preservation of the environment.

Among the activities to raise awareness among the population and enhance the value of the natural heritage, the City Council proposes the study of the species of flora and fauna of the area, as well as the design and printing of a “Guide to the biodiversity of the pine forests of Aznalcázar”.

The planned actions are as follows:

  • Preliminary study on the biodiversity present in the Pinares de Aznalcázar public forest, especially the species of flora and fauna, highlighting the most representative of the area as well as the threatened species. The study will be completed with an analysis of the functioning of the ecosystems in the area.
  • Design and printing of the brochure prepared to present, in a didactic and attractive way, the results of the study. About 5,000 copies are expected to be printed.
  • Distribution of the brochure in official centres, visitor centres in protected areas and tourist establishments.
