The main objective of the project is to carry out the analysis of the climatic evolution observed in the area of the Picos de Europa National Park, as well as the degree of agreement between this evolution and that proposed by the General Circulation Models (GCM) for that area.
The main objective of the project is to carry out the analysis of the climatic evolution observed in the area of the Picos de Europa National Park, as well as the degree of agreement between this evolution and that proposed by the General Circulation Models (GCM) for that area.
More specifically, the following are pursued:
- To evaluate the existence of precipitation and temperature records of the observatories of the AEMet network located in a wide geographical area around the National Park.
- To determine a network of reference stations for the contrast and quality control of the precipitation and temperature measurements taken in the meteorological stations installed in the Park.
- To analyse the climatic evolution observed in the Park region in the average seasonal values of certain variables and to analyse the change produced in the extreme phenomena associated with these variables.
- To compare, for the variables of interest, the evolution observed in the region of the Picos de Eurpa National Park and that simulated by the GCMs.
