Through this project, PEFC Spain, in collaboration with the environmental authorities of Andalusia, Cantabria and Navarra, aims to cooperate in the implementation of sustainable development models that serve as a reference for the whole of the national territory.
The project is aimed at workers in the forestry sector throughout the national territory. It will be developed in collaboration with relevant companies, institutions and organizations, also contributing to each citizen in their daily activity, assuming their role in the global sustainability chain.
The purpose of this initiative is to improve and rearticulate the forestry sector, increasing the skills and qualifications of workers in environmental issues, climate change and sustainability and promoting its modernization. In addition, it is intended to promote the creation of employment and companies, all by adapting economic activities to current environmental requirements.
The specific objectives of the project are:
- To advise forestry workers to renew their knowledge, bringing them closer to emerging issues in the conservation and sustainable use of forest ecosystems.
- To promote eco-innovation, promoting new business attitudes that contemplate economic, social and environmental sustainability by incorporating these criteria into their corporate social responsibility policies.
- Correct the unequal treatment of the forestry sector compared to others with which it is closely linked.
