The aim of the project is to recover the trails that connect the Caldera de Taburiente National Park with the long-distance trails located on the island of La Palma in the Canary archipelago.

These trails are in great demand among the population and visitors to the islands despite the state of great deterioration they present and are located in different Areas of Ecological Sensitivity such as the aforementioned La Caldera de Taburiente National Park, the Cumbre Vieja Natural Park and the Protected Landscape of the Barranco de Las Angustias.

The works in execution include the habilitation, improvement and conditioning in sections of three trails with which existing itineraries will be consolidated, guaranteeing a comfortable and safe passage for the hiker and safeguarding him from the nearby vegetation.

The project adopts traditional technical solutions aimed at achieving the greatest permanence of the same. In general terms, when the orography of the terrain allows it, the evacuation of rainwater will be facilitated, retaining walls will be restored, steps will be executed to guarantee the continuity of the road and they will be marked with panels. The total length of the natural paths to be intervened is approximately 21.5 kilometers.
