Through the presence of the wild bee (Apis melífera), it is intended to favour the forest masses of great ecological value that constitute the habitats of emblematic species such as the brown bear and the Cantabrian capercaillie, promoting their conservation and enhancing the productivity of food resources.

More specifically, the project aims to:

  • Recover levels of wild beekeeping presence in mountain ecosystems.
  • Recover traditional beekeeping in rural mountain areas.
  • Maintain the hives and provide technical advice.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effects that this action may have on the rural environment.
  • Disseminate, raise awareness and educate on environmental issues.

To achieve this, plots will be selected and agreements will be signed with property owners,
pollination stations will be installed, phytosanitary monitoring and control will be carried out.
