In order to recover the populations of wild rabbits, the Albar Association proposes a project to build artificial majanos, which allow the population of this species to be controlled.

In this way, the reproduction of the wild rabbit is promoted, populations are controlled through their capture, vaccines and deworming treatments are administered, in addition to eliminating dead specimens.

To this end, the project foresees the placement of two majanos as breeding units in the area of Los Centenares, and three majanos for approach to the mountain, located at strategic points in the region. To feed the rabbit, the association will carry out alternate sowing and two leaves (one for sowing and the other fallow), with a mixture of cereal and legumes.

The wild rabbit is the base of the nutritional chain of birds of prey and felines, among others, and has been suffering for years from a mine in its populations, mainly due to myxomatosis and viral hemorrhagic pneumonia, diseases that have reduced its population. Hence the importance of undertaking projects to recover the species.
