The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the elimination and eradication of invasive exotic plants in the estuary of the Deba estuary and to the recovery of natural riverside vegetation.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the elimination and eradication of invasive exotic plants in the estuary of the Deba estuary and to the recovery of natural riverside vegetation.
It is also intended to facilitate the cleaning of waste on the banks of the river. The scope of action covers an area of 15 hectares of the Lasao meander, in the Deba estuary.
More specifically, this initiative seeks to regenerate the riverside forest and undertake landscape restoration work, as well as creating a small nursery of riverside trees and shrubs. Tasks will also be undertaken to sensitize and raise awareness of the population about the riverside ecosystem, at local and regional level.
The actions planned to achieve these objectives are the following:
- Elimination of reinutria (Fallopia japonica) with manual and innocuous phytosanitary methods.
- To set up work camps with local and regional population for the reforestation of the riverside forest.
- Environmental improvement of the border on the perimeter of the Irarrazabal reed bed and improvement of the vestigial surface of the belfry.
- Creation of a small nursery of riverside trees and shrubs.
- Cleaning of the banks of the riverbank.
- Launch an awareness and awareness campaign, as well as an exhibition on the Deba River estuary.
