The purpose of this project is to promote the sustainable development of the island of Menorca through its structure as a Biosphere Reserve.

Specifically, it is intended to:

• To enhance the identity and public visibility of the Reserve.
• To strengthen the conservation of natural ecosystems and native flora and fauna.
• To promote the conservation of cultural and ethnological heritage.
• Preserve the island’s landscape.
• Research on the various problems that affect the conservation of the biodiversity of the territory.
• To progress in the knowledge of the natural wealth of the island.
• To enhance sustainable economic and human development on the island from a socio-cultural and ecological point of view.
• To promote the awareness of the local population about the natural values of the island.

To this end, the following actions will be carried out:

• Creation of the Biosphere Reserve Agency.
• Creation of a system of biodiversity indicators.
• Surveillance and control of invasive alien plant species.
• Preparation of a didactic unit on water in Menorca.
• Conservation of threatened and endemic flora on the Camí de Cavalls.
