The main objective of this project is to learn about the evolution of the ecosystems of the Sierra Nevada National Park

The main objective of the initiative is to learn about the evolution of the ecosystems of the Sierra Nevada National Park through the analysis of the effects of global warming that can be applied in the area.

To this end, the impact of climate change on the hydrological regime of the area will be evaluated and the scenarios analysed in previous studies will be updated. The availability of water flows in the study area and their impact on the ecosystem services associated with hydrology in the National Park will also be estimated. Finally, the structure for monitoring global change in the Park will be updated.

Among the expected results, it is intended to improve the hydrological simulations in the study area, to forecast the impacts of climate change on the hydrology of the Park, to calculate the influence on the areas of traditional uses and to create a database with the hydrological variables analyzed and their possible usefulness for other similar works. In addition, a final report on the level of impact will be made.

To carry out this project, the scheduled activities are:

• Update the projections of the validated climate scenarios for Sierra Nevada
• Simulate the future scenarios of the entire National Park and compare them with previous results.
• Update the representation of the results with special attention to snow, soil moisture, evaporation and flow.
• To assess the impact of climate change on the ecosystems associated with the hydrology of the Sierra Nevada and on traditional water use.
• Act on the points with the greatest sensitivity to detect trends.
• Disseminate the results of the project on social networks (Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin).
