The objective of the project “The potential of the associative hunting movement as a tool for the conservation of nature and biodiversity in Spain” is to analyse the hunting resources that exist in Spain to determine their economic, social, environmental and geographical relevance. It also seeks to promote sustainable practices, while increasing awareness and knowledge among the population, especially the Associative Hunting Movement (MAC), due to the role it plays in the conservation of biodiversity.
Within the framework of the project, four main actions have been carried out: a preliminary analysis and diagnosis, as well as an analysis and study of good sustainable practices for the creation of a guide of recommendations, communication, dissemination and awareness of the conclusions obtained, and the monitoring and evaluation of the results. In this way, the different existing visions on hunting management have been compiled and the active participation of stakeholders in the study has been guaranteed through surveys and interviews. Society has also been made aware of the importance of hunting resources and their good preservation.
The actions carried out have led to the preparation of a study to analyse the existing hunting resources in Spain, in order to determine and make visible their economic, social, environmental and geographical relevance. This study will serve to promote sustainable practices and increase the awareness and knowledge of the different stakeholders, especially the MAC community (associative hunting movement). He has also contributed to the to knowledge of policies that are being promoted in other countries.
