The aim of this project is to adapt snow tourism areas in Spain to the effects of climate change.
The aim of this project is to adapt snow tourism areas in Spain to the effects of climate change. To this end, it is intended to develop a cost-benefit analysis methodology to assess the impacts and adaptation measures in the snow tourism sector.
The expected results are, among others, to identify the supply of available resources and demand in the snow tourism sector, as well as to make future projections. In addition, the initiative seeks to find out the impacts of climate change on the snow tourism sector and the costs and benefits of adaptation measures in the sector in Spain. It is also intended to carry out an economic valuation of them.
The activities that will be developed within the framework of the project, carried out by the ENT Foundation, are:
- Brief review of the literature on methods of assessing and assessing costs and benefits and on estimates of adaptation to the sector in other areas.
- Interviews with economic and social agents in the snow tourism sector and adaptation to climate change.
- Analysis of projections of climate change impacts in areas of significant snow tourism activity in Spain. It will focus on the facilities located at lower altitudes, which are the most vulnerable.
- Describe the standard measures that could be implemented that affect snow tourism in Spain, as well as their costs and benefits.
- To establish methods of quantitative analysis for the assessment of the costs and benefits of the measures.
- Analyze results and proposals.
- Prepare a final report.
The ENT Foundation will monitor the carbon footprint derived from the activity carried out, in accordance with the methodology provided by the Biodiversity Foundation.
