Ecohealth: adaptation to climate change with co-benefits in health, tourism, ecosystem and food

MITECO

Within the 2nd PNACC Work Programme, this proposal addresses the need to identify those measures that can provide co-benefits for the health and protection of ecosystems, in a context of adaptation to climate change, while mobilizing key stakeholders.

This project is related to the objectives of several European projects in which the project members participate. The Cost TObeWELL action (Tourism, Wellbeing and Ecosystem Services, 2012-2016, Cost Action IS1204), which seeks to combine the principle of ecosystem service (SE), focused on life support systems, with other non-material services, such as culture, health and well-being; and the EU BASE Project (Bottom-up Climate Adaptation Strategies towards a Sustainable Europe, 2012-2016, FP7 ENV. 2012.6.1-3) on the assessment of the co-benefits in water and health of adaptation measures. In this context, the aim is to relate research on the well-being provided by ecosystems with their effects on our health.
