The project aims to raise awareness among the population of the rural area of Cantabria through activities that involve the care of its river basins.

This initiative seeks to know and improve the ecological status of the rivers of Cantabria by involving citizens. To this end, awareness-raising actions have been developed to raise awareness among the population about the fragility and importance of these ecosystems, making them participate in innovative activities.

Among the activities of this project, the following stand out:

• River diagnosis
• Photography and leaflet making competition
• Connectivity and ecological restoration activities
• Review of activities and dissemination

In this way, the Cantabrian Network for Rural Development has improved stretches of rivers where a deterioration of the ecological status of their banks has been detected, while at the same time promoting the durability of the network of river observers among schoolchildren. Likewise, the population of the rural area of Cantabria has been sensitized, working on the concept of responsibility regarding the care of river basins, and increasing knowledge of river ecosystems among citizens so that they are aware of their value and fragility.
