The initiative consisted of the celebration of the 12th National Congress of the Environment (Conama 2014).
The 12th National Congress on the Environment, CONAMA 2014, organized by the CONAMA Foundation, was held in Madrid from November 24 to 27, 2014. The aim of this edition was to contribute to the transition to a low-carbon circular economy, generating a powerful space to support the environmental sector, informing about new trends and opportunities, promoting actions and generating connections between actors.
The congress served to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between key actors and to promote the systemic vision based on sectoral initiatives, moving from fragmentation to collaboration among all participants. In addition, it had a great power to disseminate relevant experiences, strategic lines of work and good practices.
Although the central axis of CONAMA 2014 was the low-carbon economy, nine other strategic lines were addressed: energy, efficiency and climate change; mobility and transport; urban renewal and building; biodiversity; rural development; waste; environmental quality, health and well-being; water and economy and society.
As in previous editions, CONAMA was part of an Ibero-American Meeting on Sustainable Development in which a large delegation from Latin American countries participated. The meeting focused on adaptation to climate change and the resilience of cities.
The Green Jobs space, a meeting point for green entrepreneurs and SMEs, jointly organized by the School of Industrial Organization (EOI) and the CONAMA Foundation, was also held within the congress. Greenjobs offered consultancies, workshops and various talks on entrepreneurship.
