The project consists of the implementation of a pilot experience for the development and implementation of a conservation bank.
This project launched by the Association of Rural Owners for Hunting Management (APROCA) will contribute to the development, promotion and implementation of new tools for the conservation of biodiversity, specifically, conservation banks, in accordance with the Eighth Additional Provision of Law 21/2013, of 9 December, on environmental impact assessment.
Within the framework of this initiative, it seeks, among other objectives, to develop criteria to quantify the natural state and the potential for the generation of conservation assets, and to quantify both values in the study area.
Likewise, it is a matter of developing concrete actions that allow the increase of the natural value of the area to be studied, with the consequent generation of environmental credits and, consequently, the creation of a bonconservation bank in the work area.
Among the activities aimed at the creation of this project to analyze the viability of a conservation bank, the following stand out:
- Identification and testing of criteria for assessing and quantifying the state of conservation
- Identification and testing of assessment criteria and quantification of improvements and potential for biodiversity generation
- Development of necessary financial guarantee systems
- Development of land ownership guarantees
- Development of a framework programme for the implementation of conservation banks in Spain.
