The project aims to design a food plan for the Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve.
This project seeks to design, in a participatory way, a food plan for the Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve, based on the conservation of biodiversity, the promotion of responsible consumption and green employment.
In addition, it seeks to establish a strategy for the productive mobilization of abandoned land that contributes to curbing the incidence of fires and, consequently, to improving biodiversity. It also encourages the incorporation of new organic producers, promotes marketing in short channels as a strategy for food sovereignty in the Reserve and promotes the responsible consumption of local and organic products.
Among the main activities that will be carried out to achieve these results are:
- Constitution of the Technical Commission on the Food System, made up of agents involved (local producers, agri-food companies, distributors, consumer groups, etc.)
- Definition of the food strategy and approval by the Reserve’s managing body
- Signing of a commitment to the food plan by 50 relevant agents
- Map of productive orientations of the Mariñas Coruñesas e Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve
- Creation of a Reserve Land Exchange for entrepreneurs
- Website to consult the available plots
- Design of an advisory and support protocol for green entrepreneurs
- Establishment of ten supply commitments with distributors/consumers
- Commitment to ten consumer social centers and/or companies, for the purchase of agricultural products
- Sensitization of the inhabitants of the Reserve on the implications of sustainable production and consumption for the conservation of biodiversity and the environment
