The project seeks to reduce the environmental impacts associated with the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
The initiative “Re-plug: project to promote and strengthen activities to prepare for the reuse of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)” aims to contribute to the development of a circular economy and reduce the environmental impacts associated with the management of this waste.
The project is coordinated by the Spanish Association of Social and Solidarity Economy Waste Pickers (AERESS) and seeks to improve the rates of reuse of WEEE, strengthen the state networks of reuse centers, both at the legislative and management level, and promote good practices in this area.
On the other hand, the initiative seeks to promote the creation of green employment linked to the prevention and use of waste, especially among groups at risk of social exclusion.
The activities of this project include:
- Visits to experiences of good practices at European and national level between recovery entities and authorised centres for preparation for reuse
- Holding of technical conferences on WEEE, which will address best practices, the improvement of internal management processes and the adaptation of the preparation centres for reuse to the specifications defined in the future Royal Decree that transposes the European regulations on the matter.
- Awareness-raising and dissemination of the environmental and social benefits of the recovery and preparation for reuse of WEEE (editing materials).
