AFN seeks to create an observatory of the third sector to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity in Spain by strengthening the activities of environmental entities

The Association of Private Foundations for Nature Conservation (AFN) launched the initiative “Observatory of the Third Environmental Sector (OTSA) of Spain: Monitoring, analysis and dissemination of policies on biodiversity”.

Its objective wasto contribute to the conservation of biodiversity in Spain through the strengthening of the activities of non-profit entities that work on policies related to the conservation of nature and natural, cultural and landscape heritage. They have worked to consolidate an “Observatory of the Third Environmental Sector” (OTSA) in Spain, promoting the involvement of the group of environmental non-profit entities through the construction of a meeting space.

Within the framework of the project, 4 reports have been added to the 16 that had already been prepared in the previous phase, dealing with issues of interest to the entities of the Third Environmental Sector. A conference was also held, a working group was set up and surveys were carried out, the conclusions of which made it possible to analyse the situation of this sector. The project has also allowed AFN to make an analysis of their role in conservation in Spain, where they are located and where they want to go.
