Conservation and management of the Biosphere Reserve of the Valleys of Omaña and Luna in the province of León.

“Participatory management of the Valles de Omaña y Luna Biosphere Reserve” is the name of the project that the valley management association is going to develop with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment in six municipalities in the province of León.

This project, among other objectives, aims to develop a strategic plan that sets objectives and actions and defines priorities in the management of the Biosphere Reserve made up of the Omaña and Luna valleys. Likewise, through this initiative it is intended to initiate small actions to improve and update existing environmental information; recovery of intangible and cultural heritage; environmental education; and dissemination of the values and singularities of this territory of the southern Cantabrian Mountains .

Among the actions that will be carried out is the dissemination of the butterflies of the regions of Omaña and Luna in León with the creation of an inventory and atlas of butterflies, and a guide and an exhibition on the butterflies of the region.
