With the project “Beaches from a bird’s eye view” developed by the Spanish Ornithological Society, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation and Ecoembes, volunteers have been trained for the development of beach cleaning, the quantification and identification of waste, and awareness of marine litter among users in coastal areas. Actions have also been carried out with the collaboration of volunteers to monitor these spaces and detect birds and other marine fauna on the shore.

Thanks to this project, SEO/BirdLife has organized a volunteer program in which 250 people have participated who have carried out various actions on the beaches of Valencia, Cantabria, Doñana and Delta del Ebro. Specifically, they have organized 15 clean-up days in which 3,220 kg of garbage have been collected and 21 awareness days on the problem caused by marine litter, reaching more than 700 people.
