MITECO

The Living Territories Association has drawn up an Action Plan for the agents involved in the improvement and adaptation to climate change of the Valles de Omaña y Luna (León) and Ordesa-Viñamala (Huesca) Biosphere Reserves.

The Living Territories Association was a beneficiary in the 2017 Call for Grants for the implementation of projects in the field of adaptation to climate change with the project “Improving the resilience of socio-ecosystems in mountain territories as a tool for adaptation to climate change”. The objective has been to promote the implementation of participatory, simple and achievable action plans in the Valles de Omaña y Luna (León) and Ordesa-Viñamala (Huesca) Biosphere Reserves, to improve their capacity to adapt to the potential effects of climate change on vulnerable ecosystems and socio-economic activities linked to them.

At the beginning of the project, after data analysis and consultations, the vulnerability of the aforementioned areas was identified.

The project has had a pilot Action Plan. This was designed, after workshops carried out in areas vulnerable to climate change, based on strengths and weaknesses in relation to biophysical elements, social factors and economic activities and a common vision of the future was generated.

During the time of the program, the beneficiary entity has held different meetings to improve communication between the organizations, companies and agents involved in the improvement of the Huesca and León ecosystems.
