To deepen the knowledge of the state of biodiversity in agricultural systems and the potential causes of it, to analyse how the current CAP and the RDPs are contributing to the proper management of the Natura 2000 Network, as well as to make proposals for its improvement and to increase the social value of the relationship between agriculture and biodiversity, the Spanish Ornithological Society, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, has launched this project.
The initiative has promoted the dissemination of the Natura 2000 Network and the role that agricultural farms have in its conservation, through the implementation of “Abre Natura 2018”, a conference around the European Day of the Natura 2000 Network in which 11 farms linked to the Network opened their doors to publicize their way of life. its activity, its products and its relationship with Natura 2000. On 19 and 20 May, 205 people came to visit, experience and hear directly from those who know them best about their peculiarities and the biodiversity that shelters the Natura 2000 Network. This activity also connected the urban world with the rural environment, and the importance of environmentally responsible producers was vindicated.
