According to CEIDA, this project aims to contribute through the development of a convenient and simple online geographical tool that would bring together all the practical information on a network of places rich in biodiversity endowed with resources for the development of activities linked to their knowledge, enjoyment and commitment to their conservation. Importance of the participatory component through the contributions of different agents (educational centres, custodial entities, NGOs, Administration) that wish to incorporate new spaces or link up with an existing one, creating a network for the dissemination, knowledge and exchange of experiences in the field of education linked to biodiversity.

The main objective is to promote knowledge and commitment to biodiversity by the educational community in its broadest sense:

The specific objectives are as follows:

  • To make known to the educational community of all kinds, the natural places rich in biodiversity with pedagogical potential.
  • To disseminate the educational and pedagogical activities existing in the natural places of pedagogical interest.
  • To promote the exchange of experiences between different actors who carry out pedagogical activities related to biodiversity in natural places of pedagogical interest.
  • To promote social participation in the field of environmental education.
  • To provide the educational community with a tool for the programming of pedagogical activities in places rich in biodiversity.
  • Definition of criteria for the incorporation of places into the catalogue.

The National Catalogue of Natural Sites of Educational Interest project has led to the creation of an online tool that is easy to access and consult that makes centralised information available to the whole of society on a network of places rich in biodiversity and resources for activities related to knowledge, enjoyment and commitment to the conservation of biodiversity. in order to promote environmental education and the connection of citizens with nature.
