The project “Green-network for sustainable health transport” aims to promote the adoption of eco-efficient strategies, in order to minimise the environmental footprint of the healthcare transport sector, disseminating environmental initiatives among its professionals and those of other related sectors, which promote energy savings by applying good practices for their daily operation.

Practices such as efficient driving and vehicle maintenance that, together with the technical improvements available, such as vehicles with alternative energies, solar panels, GPS trackers, etc., contribute to the sustainability of the sector.

The general objectives of the project are:

  • To promote and improve employment in general and green employment in particular, related to medical transport and related sectors.
  • To increase the skills and qualifications of workers in the health transport sector and neighbouring sectors on environmental and sustainability issues.
  • To promote the modernisation and innovation of ambulance and medical transport companies.
  • Promote the creation or conversion of medical transport companies into sustainable medical transport companies.

  • Promote the sustainability of medical transport.

The environmental objective that is intended to be promoted in this way is the decarbonisation of healthcare transport activities, in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to improve air quality, all while adopting eco-efficiency strategies related to the reduction of energy consumption, guaranteeing sustainable healthcare transport.

The recipients of the project are:

  • Professionals in the sector/emerging activities with the potential to be converted into sustainable activities.
  • Professionals from sectors related to the medical transport sector, such as suppliers of products and supplies, and sustainable services, vehicles powered by alternative energies, solar energy in the facilities, good practices for efficient driving, etc.
  • General public who meet the criteria to be chosen from the Empleaverde Programme.
