This project focuses on training, information and advice for producers of NWFP (mainly cork and residual forest biomass) and managers of small forest properties, a sector that accounts for a large percentage of Spanish timber production and has posed great management difficulties at the regional level.

The aim of this project is to facilitate the revaluation of its products and guarantee environmental and social responsibility in its management, making forestry a true green engine of the rural economy. FSC Spain seeks to promote and facilitate the certificate in forest management of forest area, chain of custody in companies and consumption of FSC materials. This strategy is based on the environmental and social improvement of forest management, the improvement in the procedures and image of the forestry industry and intermediaries and the possibility that the consumer can contribute with their choice of market to guarantee all this.

The target of the actions are forest owners, especially small properties; workers of homeowners’ associations; workers of environmental and forestry consulting companies; self-employed persons interested in consulting related to certification systems; those responsible for quality, purchasing and sales of companies certified in the FSC chain of custody or in the process of becoming so (mostly, SMEs or micro-SMEs).

It is expected to offer training to 170 recipients although the project will reach a total of 776 workers, as well as create at least three new companies or business lines in FSC consulting and the certification of at least 30 new companies in FSC chain of custody.
