PROJECT NAME: Improvement of the technical knowledge of workers in the forestry sector of Galicia and Andalusia to promote and guarantee the sustainable use of wood.
OBJECTIVES: To improve the skills and technical knowledge of workers related to the processing and distribution of wood and forest derivatives in order to promote and guarantee the efficient use of wood of legal and sustainable origin.
THEME: The environmental theme addressed by the project is: Sustainable forest management
DESCRIPTION: The project consists of training and educating employees of companies that transform and distribute wood and its derivatives in Galicia and Andalusia so that they have in-depth knowledge about the legal system that applies to this sector and about the current forest certification systems that promote responsible use. The idea is that they are fluent in the concepts of the legality and sustainability of wood and apply them to their jobs in order to be better qualified.
To this end, face-to-face training will be carried out in the workplaces of several companies, on EU Timber Regulation and on the FSC, PEFC and Fair Wood certification systems, focusing on the handling of the concepts and how to apply them to their different jobs, distinguishing between processing and distribution sectors. This knowledge will be focused on promoting and facilitating the sustainable use of wood and disseminating it to end consumers.
