Promotion of nationally produced natural fibres in the Spanish textile sector

Empleaverde program

PROJECT NAME: Promotion of nationally produced natural fibres in the Spanish textile sector (ecofibras.ES)

OBJECTIVE: The objective of the project is to unite and coordinate the textile production and fashion sectors with the primary sector (agriculture and livestock) promoting more environmentally sustainable and socially just projects for the production of natural fibers and their use in the textile sector.

THEME: The theme of the project is sustainable textiles.

DESCRIPTION: Project to promote the fashion sector made with sustainable and local textile fibres. Natural is in fashion and there is great potential for increasing the consumption of natural fibres of national production such as cotton, wool or hemp. But for this to happen, it is necessary that the different actors know the product well and how to use it. Andalusia has been chosen because it is where the cotton grown in Spain and Catalonia is concentrated because of its relationship with the textile industry. Two communities that can be examples of how to promote the sector in a collaborative way.

It is proposed to offer face-to-face and online training on the production of natural fibers, the manufacture of green textiles, the integration of these materials in design and the improvement of communication to boost consumption. The project also includes personalized remote advice for companies and the self-employed and dissemination of the most demanded information.
