OBJECTIVE
The objective of the project is to generate employment and stop the depopulation of rural areas through the sustainable exploitation of the resources offered by the environment. Specifically, the use of native and disappearing species for the manufacture of wine and oil will be promoted.
DESCRIPTION
The project will contribute to the regeneration of isolated rural populations and those in the process of depopulation. Through the enhancement of native species, it seeks to increase the employability of people at risk of exclusion by incorporating them into green businesses.
In the area ofSan Martín de Unx, in Navarre, vines that are more than 25 years old are being replaced by more productive vines or by other agricultural productions. The project will therefore focus on the sustainable cultivation of Grenache vines, enhancing and protecting the environment.
The rural coastal areas of the interior of Alicante are suffering the effect of depopulation due to the pull effect of the coast and the demand for work in the service sector. This produces the inevitable abandonment of olive cultivation that produces lower yields. In the In the Alicante Mountain Area , olive is being replaced by others of higher production, to the detriment of old productions in more mountainous areas. The project will promote the Cuquillo olive, which produces a unique oil with very peculiar aromas.
InSanta Cruz de Tenerife and Malaga the problem is similar but also offers the same opportunities. Both are benchmarks in winemaking in their respective communities, have native species and suffer from rural depopulation.
