The objective of SEAYOURLITTER is to raise awareness and promote a national litter fishing scheme through the implementation of the strategic line of awareness and training for the reduction of marine litter.
This will be carried out with dissemination, training and awareness actions both in the fishing sector and among the general public in terms of marine litter.
Specific objectives of the project:
1.- To increase knowledge inside and outside the fishing sector about the problem of marine litter, its impact on the marine environment and the importance of fishing in its remediation.
2.-Improve, through communication and awareness campaigns, the knowledge of present and future fishermen on certain aspects of marine waste management: encourage the discharge of waste on land to reduce discharges at sea, improve waste management on board fishing vessels, the need to install clean points in fishing basins or the recycling of certain materials.
3.- Promote a national rubbish fishing scheme through awareness-raising in those fleets that do not participate in existing garbage collection initiatives (longline, purse seine, etc.), so as to guarantee the absence of any negative impact on the marine environment and especially on areas of the Natura 2000 Network.
A1- Training pills on good practices in fishing for marine litter.
A2- Training sessions in nautical-fishing schools on garbage fishing.
A3- Educational meetings in marine Natura 2000 Network areas.
