The LIFE+ INDEMARES project aims to contribute to the protection and sustainable use of biodiversity in Spanish seas, through work to identify areas of value for the Natura 2000 Network.
The project – 50 percent co-financed by the European Commission – has a budget of 15.4 million euros.
The objective of this project – one of the projects that has received the most funding in the history of the European Commission’s LIFE funds – is to obtain sufficient scientific information to preserve large areas of the Spanish marine environment through the designation of Sites of Community Importance (SCI) and Special Protection Areas for Birds (SPAs) of the Natura 2000 Network.
