The state of conservation of the banks of the Tagus River in some of its sections as it passes through the city of Toledo is unfavourable, which increases the risk of flooding in the municipality of Toledo. This fact draws attention to the fact that the Tagus River is one of the most unique elements of the municipality, not only because it is an emblem, declared together with the historic center a World Heritage Site, but also because it is a space that generates economy, culture and leisure, its deterioration in recent decades has made it included in the Red List of Hispania Nostra Heritage.
The western area of the Tagus River as it passes through the city of Toledo is in a poor state of ecological conservation, despite being one of the preferred areas for the population for their leisure and recreation within the city. The project proposes the execution of three major actions in the area in order to renaturalise this urban river space and reduce the risk of flooding, thus increasing the resilience and biodiversity of the ecosystem.
Some of the actions included in this project are:
Project for the recovery and reduction of flood risk on the banks of the Tagus in the western area of the city of Toledo (RIBERA DEL TAJO IN THE WESTERN AREA OF THE CITY OF TOLEDO)
