The environmental landscape of the Municipality of Marbella is made up of a coastal area of 27 km of coastline of great environmental value into which a large number of river channels flow that should act as environmental connectors with the interior (Sierra Blanca, Sierra de las Nieves, Sierra Bermeja, etc.).
The environmental landscape of Marbella is made up of a coastline of great environmental value into which a large number of river channels flow. In this river network, the Guadaiza river basin presents a great problem of flooding, anthropic and urban pressures, as well as notorious ecological and environmental alterations. The contempt for the riverbeds has been of such a magnitude that the alternatives to intervene have always been civil engineering options that transformed the river ecosystem into concrete channels. The solution proposed in the urban area of the river makes it possible to reconcile environmental recovery and protection, favoring connectivity.
Some of the actions included in this project are:
Renaturalization and mitigation of flood risk in the urban environment of the Guadaiza River. T.M. Marbella (REMIMAGUADAIZA)
