The project will achieve the creation of naturalised spaces in the urban fabric of the city, connected to each other and connecting directly with the peri-urban environment that will increase the biodiversity of the city and the existence of green corridors that cross it, at different levels, breaking down barriers between the urban space and the orchard and between the ground and the roof of the city. These corridors will also serve as bioclimatic refuges. The aim is to generate ecosystem nodes that function as urban natural spaces connected by green corridors through nature-based solutions, with the use of rainwater, soil improvement, increase in useful fauna, etc.
The involvement of citizens is key to promoting and conserving urban biodiversity, so the projects will be carried out with the participation of volunteers, schoolchildren and neighbors in the plantations, in the creation of wildlife refuges and in the monitoring of the results.
The University of Lleida will participate in the monitoring of the projects and in the contribution of the best available techniques for each action, as well as in the development of urban intervention models for the improvement of biodiversity. Finally, an increase in urban biodiversity is expected through actions to favour different groups of fauna and flora, which are currently very scarce in the urban fabric.

Among the actions of this project are the drafting of the Natura Plan as well as the executive projects and programs for the protection of birds and bats in buildings.
In the territory, the connection of the Natura 2000 Network Mas de Melons, Alfés and Torreribera with Balsas de Sucs and Alcarràs is proposed. The creation of peri-urban territorial parks that will be biodiversity nodes and climate refuges for public use is also contemplated, among other actions.
