Truffle Farming School: Training Professionals in Sustainable Black Truffle Plantations

Empleaverde+ program

‘Truffle Farming School‘ is a training and recruitment project with a duration of 10 months (4 months of training and 6 months of hiring) that ranges from the selection and training of specialists, providing the best existing knowledge, to the implementation and development of practical work, detection and solution of problems that arise in the day-to-day life of truffle farms by hiring project participants.

With this project it is expected that the participants will acquire the complex and necessary knowledge to carry out all the tasks of managing a truffle plantation, with the ability to work both alone and in a team when necessary, to handle the tools, or machinery safely and to detect problems of the farm, and propose solutions under environmental sustainability standards.

Train and enable professionals to carry out all tasks associated with the implementation, maintenance and use of black truffle production plantations, applying sustainable management criteria and adaptation to climate change.

The impact that is expected to be achieved in the territory thanks to the ‘Truffle Farming School’ project has a double aspect: on the one hand, to promote the settlement of the population in the rural area of the province of Soria through the offer of jobs with prospects of continuity; and on the other, to allow truffle growers already present in the province to have qualified professionals to help them manage or even expand their plantations, to make them more sustainable farms.
