Project for the development of dyeing processes for the manufacture of a new line of sustainable EcoDye products based on eco-design parameters

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

FINISH SA is dedicated to dyeing and finishing for decoration fabrics. The project proposes the launch of a new line of textile items with vegetable dyes (EcoDye sustainable products) that have optimal environmental properties, such as their biodegradability, guaranteed by their origin, based on product eco-design criteria and based on the results obtained at laboratory level from an R+D project carried out by the company. In the industrial dyeing process, synthetic dyes are mostly used. Natural dyes have weaker, less homogeneous colors, less fastness and at the same time difficult to apply. To increase the ability to fix the colour, the use of mordants is required, which, together with the use of auxiliary compounds, facilitate the impregnation of the fibres and the durability of the colour. This project proposes the investment in specialized equipment to achieve optimal values and the necessary properties for the water used for these dyes.

Launch of a new line of textile articles with dyes from natural products, mostly plant-based, which have more desirable environmental properties such as their biodegradability, guaranteed by their organic origin. It mainly focuses on waste prevention and environmental impact throughout the product’s life cycle. They intend to reduce the use of chemical dyes by 15% of the current manufacture of dye (equivalent to 270,000 kg of chemical dye that will no longer be used), which means an impact on 540,000 m of fabric.
