PRTR Call for Proposals Project

GRAU S.A. is a medium-sized company from Castellar del Vallès (Barcelona) specialising in the textile sector, which offers a wide range of products and services to the market in terms of dyes and finishes of all types of fibres (animal, vegetable, artificial, synthetic and their mixtures, recycled, organic…). This project aims to make an investment in state-of-the-art machinery and an integral and transversal automation system for the entire fabric dyeing process (6 new THEN SMARTFLOW dyeing jets: 2 single-mouth jets, with a production load of 300 kg, 2 two-mouth jets, with a load of 600 kg and two other four-mouth jets, up to 1,200 kg). In this way, there will be greater control and precision in operations, reducing the probability of error and the need for remanufacturing that generates waste and increases the consumption of raw materials. Therefore, the project marks results corresponding to a saving of virgin raw material by 30%, an estimated reduction of 2% of waste and waste that is currently discarded, a 30% reduction in the use of chemical products due to the use of enzymes and an improvement in the environmental footprint of the entity in terms of quantified water and energy savings.

The main objective is the implementation of sustainability in dyeing and finishing processes through investments in machinery for savings in consumption and reduction of waste by the entity GRAU S.A. The following results are expected: 1. Savings in the consumption of virgin raw materials during the production process of 30% corresponding to reducing the following: 1.1. From consuming 0.98 kg to consuming 0.51 kg of auxiliary products / kg of tissue produced 1.2. From consuming 21% to consuming 14% of reprocessed tissue. 1.3. From consuming 8% to consuming 2% of other reprocessed tissues. 1.4. From consuming 18% to consuming 11% of other reprocessed tissues 1.5. From consuming 15% to consuming 8% of other reprocessed fabrics 2: Reduction of waste generated during the production process of 2% of waste and losses corresponding to the waste generated. 3: Reduction of the use of chemical products by the use of enzymes from 90% to 60% of waste corresponding to the waste generated. 4: Improvement of the environmental footprint of the entity corresponding to the improvement of: 4.1 Reduction of water consumption from 13 L of water to 4.5 L. / kg of fabric produced in the bathing ratio.4.2 Reduction of energy consumption from 45.8 kWh (4 channels) and 117.6 kWh (6+2 channels) to consume 22 kWh (2 channels) and 45 kWh (4 channels).
