Modelling and prospecting of key sites for the migration and wintering of the aquatic warbler (Acrocephalus paludicola) (BAEM)

LIFE

  • The project focuses on the migration and wintering areas of the aquatic warbler and aims to develop a network of sites with a comprehensive and climate-resilient migratory scale.
  • To this end, a comprehensive database of the species and the generation of dynamic distribution models will be developed to discover potential key locations for warbler migration and wintering.

The general objective is to contribute to the recovery of the aquatic warbler population (Acrocephalus paludicola). Specifically, the identification of the main migratory and wintering stopover areas is addressed, carrying out an exhaustive collection of data, its modelling to identify all the potentially good areas for the species and its validation in the field.

It has the following specific objectives:

  • Modelling and prospecting of key sites for the migration and wintering of the aquatic warbler.
  • Dissemination and awareness of society.
  • Creation of a database on the presence, physical condition and movements of the species during the migratory and wintering season.
  • Development of dynamic distribution models and maps that reflect the geographical movements of the species.
  • Exploratory field days in potential sites of the migratory stopover.
  • Dissemination and communication actions to publicise the species and the project.
