Crushing and decontamination line for HDPE/LDPE plastic from industrial packaging with autonomous system for evaporation and recirculation of process water

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The objective of this project is to recycle all those plastic industrial containers that cannot be prepared for reuse. By shredding the containers and their rigorous decontamination with an innovative integrated system of recirculated water generated by an evaporative plant whose electricity supply is produced by renewable energy for self-consumption, we manage to increase and optimize the obtaining of high-quality recycled material, which can be reintroduced into different production processes for the generation of new packaging and products.

The main objective of the project is the recycling of plastic industrial packaging that cannot be prepared for reuse. The entity receives an average of 700 tons of plastic industrial packaging, of which the current recovery rate is 60%. The remaining approximately 280 tons are not subjected to the process of preparation for reuse. With the process of tearing, shredding, decontaminating (washing) and drying, it is possible to declassify the hazardousness of industrial packaging waste (origin of the process) and obtain a high-quality product (shredded plastic), aiming for a recovery of 95%. The efficiency of the new line will reduce the waste generated from the production process by at least 25%. As a secondary objective, they propose to reuse up to 85% of the recirculated water from the process.
