Installation of an innovative system for separating and extruding plastic waste to obtain high-quality recycled pellets

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

Sostenplas has defined this project aimed at obtaining high-quality pellets by improving the current waste separation processes and the inclusion of an extrusion stage with additivation subsequently. To do this, it will be necessary to implement the following production equipment in a new warehouse:

  1. Two improper separation lines designed to treat ABS and polystyrene waste.
  2. Separation line to obtain PC-ABS, Polycarbonate and ABS.
  3. Two extrusion machines with additivation capacity.
  4. Laboratory equipment and storage silos.

Line of action:

Private sector

Status:

En ejecución

Location:

Valverde del Majano, Segovia (Castilla y León)

Execution date:

2024

Duration:

10/12/24 - 31/12/26

Total budget:

10.945.542 €

Amount of aid from the Biodiversity Foundation:

€6,424,825.32

The main objective of the project is to optimise the recycling of plastics from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEEs) through the construction of an advanced plant in Valverde del Majano (Segovia).

This plant is designed to maximize the recovery of styrenic polymers such as PC-ABS and polystyrene, reaching high levels of purity and quality (99%). From the improved plastic fractions, it will be possible to obtain recycled pellets made of ABS, polystyrene and PC-ABS suitable for replacing virgin pellets in demanding applications such as in the manufacture of automotive parts or for household appliances and electrical appliances.
