UP-LDPE: “Advanced recycling system for the transformation of LDPE into superior quality pellets”.

PRTR Call for Proposals Project

The project focuses on the development and implementation of an advanced technology system, in the field of plastic film recycling, to produce a future recycled, sustainable and high-value raw material. In essence, the system will allow LDPE waste to be recycled to transform it back into a high-quality product, thanks to the fact that it will be mainly composed of an extruder with a ViscoZero decontamination reactor, which will carry out a better mixing of the material, and an efficient extraction of polluting gases produced by inks and plastic when extruded.

The main objective of the project is the development and implementation of a plastic waste film (LDPE) recycling system based on viscoZero decontamination technology, which will allow the production of high-purity recycled plastic film pellets. They hope to be able to increase the percentage of substitution of virgin raw material with recycled plastic to 30-50% (500 kg of secondary raw material for every 1000 kg of virgin raw material used to manufacture a product), increase the amount of materials destined for high-quality recycling processes by 5% (recycle 800kg for every 1000kg of waste processed), and to reduce by 5% the waste generated during the production process as well as that which is destined for landfills and/or incinerators (200 kg per 1000kg of the material that is processed constitutes waste).
