Event to present the results of the LIFE INTEMARES project
The Integrated Project LIFE INTEMARES “Integrated, innovative and participatory management of the Natura 2000 Network in the Spanish marine environment” has been the largest marine conservation project in Europe and, in addition to having the challenge of generating information for completing the work and progress in the field of declaration of spaces, has had as main objective to contribute to progress towards the effective management of the areas of the marine Natura 2000 Network in Spain.
After 9 years of work, the final event to present the results is held focused on making visible the successes and results achieved in the project. The conference will also try to highlight the approaches and models applied within the framework of the project, with special emphasis on the role of science as a basis for decision-making, the importance of coordination to contribute to the management and governance of marine protected areas and the participation of the actors involved. as a differential element to achieve an adequate balance between the conservation of the marine environment and socio-economic development, the main objective of the Natura 2000 Network.
