Day of celebration of the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought

In collaboration with the General Directorate of Biodiversity, Forests and Desertification (MITECO),we organized the conference “Grasslands in the fight against desertification“: recognize, respect and restore“. The event is part of the World Day for Desertification and Drought, which is commemorated every year on June 17. This 2026 coincides with the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists and aims to draw attention to the need to recognize and value grasslands for the essential roles they play in combating desertification, respect the traditional guardians who have cared for them for generations, and restore degraded landscapes to ensure livelihoods and ecosystem services.
