Ten years have passed since the declaration of the island of La Palma as a World Biosphere Reserve, a date that has served to celebrate various institutional events.

Taking advantage of the celebration of this first decade, the Action Plan of the La Palma World Biosphere Reserve for the decade 2013-2022 has been presented, with which it is intended to “articulate all efforts for the island’s impulse, promoting the balance between the reconciliation of the conservation of natural resources and the achievement of sustainable economic and social development, where people are the link and the final recipients” stressed the island president, Guadalupe González Taño, who defined the World Biosphere Reserve as a key instrument in these times of crisis because it is constituted as a “node for the promotion of innovation and the contribution of new ideas”.
