The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment has presented the 63 Climate Projects selected in the 2015 call, which in the words of Minister Isabel García Tejerina, “are good proof that we are right with the approach of supporting the reduction of greenhouse gases in Spain through the FES-CO2 Carbon Fund“. as endorsed by the more than 600 ideas presented in the four calls made so far.
The Climate Projects are initiatives developed in all diffuse sectors: transport, residential, waste, agriculture and livestock, industry (excluding the European emissions trading system) and fluorinated gases. These are projects that contribute to progress towards a green economy and a low-carbon society, promoting measures that are laying the foundations for meeting the objectives to which Spain has committed.
According to García Tejerina, through this new model of public-private cooperation “we are exploring real opportunities, opportunities that the fight against climate change offers to companies in all these sectors”.
After four calls for Climate Projects, the Carbon Fund has become an effective tool for achieving measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, the Climate Projects are proving to be examples of generating economic activity in our country, favouring the creation of employment in sectors associated with action against climate change. Since the beginning, nearly 200 projects have already been launched.
