The headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment (MAPAMA) today hosted the informative meeting with the 68 beneficiary entities of the call for aid for the implementation of projects in the field of adaptation to climate change. One of the objectives of this meeting is the search for synergies between the beneficiaries of this call promoted by MAPAMA, through the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC) and the Biodiversity Foundation.
The beneficiary entities will receive a total of 2.5 million euros to develop, during 2017 and 2018, projects that include activities that contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PNACC) and its third Work Programme, the framework instrument that seeks to integrate adaptation to climate change in the planning and management of the sectors. systems, resources and territories vulnerable to climate change in Spain.
The selected projects focus on the generation and analysis of knowledge in the field of impact assessment, vulnerability and adaptation; the development of demonstration and learning projects on adaptation to climate change; mobilization of actors (transfer, participation, information, communication, awareness-raising and training) on adaptation; the promotion of the development and implementation of local and business adaptation plans and strategies.
All the projects fall into some of the categories of adaptation options included in the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), including physical (engineering, technology, ecosystems), social (education, training, information) and other institutional (economy, plans, laws, measures) structural issues.
Among the beneficiaries of this call are non-profit organizations, public research organizations, universities, city councils and SMEs, among others.
