A new software application makes it easier for companies to analyse environmental risk

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Federico Ramos, has presented a new computer application, a pioneer in the European Union, which aims to make it easier for companies to analyse the risk of their activity, a key aspect in the commitment to measures to reduce possible environmental damage.

It is an application with which companies will be able to implement preventive measures, which was announced at the presentation of the Environmental Responsibility Offer Model (MORA), free of charge through the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, and which will come into operation from tomorrow.

It will allow operators to know whether or not they are obliged to provide a financial guarantee – a regulatory obligation for certain operators that allows them to meet the environmental liability inherent in the activity they intend to carry out – and, if so, to calculate the corresponding amount, as well as the development of an adequate management of the risks of their installation. On the other hand, the application includes a catalog with the reparation measures for the different environmental damages. For Ramos, this initiative “highlights one of the ideas that preside over the Ministry’s environmental policy, focused on the fact that the environment and progress should be allies and not opposing or confronting realities”.
