Based on its findings, the analysis calls for more effective solutions to the problems of population growth and consumption level.

Efeverde.com has echoed this study, published in the scientific journal “Marine Ecology Progress Series”, which states that despite the 100 thousand protected areas throughout the
In the world, which add up to 17 million square kilometers (Km2) on land and two million Km2 in the oceans, the loss of biodiversity has accelerated. The causes of this, according to the research, is the inadequate financing of protected areas. In addition, the expected growth for them is too slow.

The United Nations believes that reaching the goal of covering 30 percent of the world’s ecosystems with protected areas would take 185 years on land and 80 years in the oceans. The presence of invasive species, climate change and pollution are other elements that threaten biodiversity.
