The director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Ana Leiva, today visited the Documentation Centre of the Menorca Biosphere Reserve, accompanied by the Executive Councillor of the Department of Economy and Environment of the Island Council of Menorca, Antònia Allés.

This centre, created with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, brings together the documentary heritage of the Biosphere Reserve to conserve it and make it available to the public. Thus, it also supports research, teaching and dissemination activities of the Reserve’s economic, social and environmental values.

Ana Leiva and Antònia Allés have met with different organisations on the island, such as the Balearic Ornithological and Natural Defence Group (GOB), the Ornithological Society of Menorca (SOM), the Menorcan Institute of Studies (IME), the Socio-environmental Observatory of Menorca (OBSAM), the Unió de Pagesos (UP), the Centre d’Educació per a Professors (CEP) and the Pedagogical Renewal Movement of Menorca (MRPM). in order to deepen the development of the projects that are being executed.

The collaboration between the Biodiversity Foundation and the Island Council of Menorca contributes to promoting the sustainable development of the island of Menorca, through the creation of the Biosphere Reserve Agency, the surveillance and control of invasive exotic plant species, and the conservation of threatened and endemic flora on the Camí de Cavalls.
